Troy Schneider

TKS Strategies LLC is the consultancy of Troy Schneider, who has been building and leading organizations at the intersection of media, technology and public sector for 30+ years. 

Before launching TKS Strategies, Mr. Schneider was President of GovExec360, the leading information services and insights company for government leaders and contractors.  GovExec360’s market-leading publications include Government Executive, Defense One, Nextgov/FCW,  Route Fifty and Washington Technology. In this role, Mr. Schneider oversaw operations, content, events and client services, and worked closely with scores of the leading companies serving the public sector market.    He similarly led Public Sector 360, the government-focused business unit of 1105 Media Inc. that was acquired by GovExec in 2021. 

Mr. Schneider was for many years the Editor-in-Chief of both FCW and GCN, two of the oldest and most influential publications in public-sector IT.   Earlier in his career, he served as the New America Foundation’s Director of Media & Technology, and prior to that as Managing Director for Electronic Publishing at the Atlantic Media Company, where he oversaw the online operations of The Atlantic Monthly, National Journal,The Hotline and The Almanac of American Politics, among other publications. 

The founding editor of NationalJournal.com, Mr. Schneider also helped launch the political site PoliticsNow.com in the mid-1990s, and worked on the earliest online efforts of the Los Angeles Times and Newsday. He began his career in print journalism, and has written for a wide range of publications, including The New York Times, WashingtonPost.com, Slate, Politico, Governing, and many of the other titles listed above.

Mr. Schneider speaks frequently at events serving the public sector community, and is an active member of ACT-IAC.   He is a graduate of Indiana University, where his emphases were journalism, business and religious studies.
